KIRA MDF AGM 2025: Kabala’s Uncle re-elected to lead the Executive

Different categories making up the Kira Municipal Development Forum KMDF have today gathered at Kira Municipal Council HQ to convene their Annual General Meeting (AGM) from where there they have elected their new Executive to take them in their new leadership term of two years.
Majority of the executive members elected have been serving on the same & members agreed that as a way of appreciating the tasks performed the best option was to re-election them so that they can mentor the new ones who have just joined.
Ssabaganzi Emmanuel Ssekitoreko who is a maternal uncle to the Kabaka of Buganda His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi is one of these who have retained their positions. Ssabaganzi has been a member of the forum since its inception and has been for the last term serving as the President of the forum and the general meeting agreed diplomatically to retain him on the same position for the next two years in recognition of his selfless service.

In his maiden speech Ssabaganzi appreciated the members for trusting him to lead them for another term and informed the new members that MDF is just like Rotary where members serve for humanity without expectations of direct returns apart from community transformation.

“For those of you who have been serving on this forum you are very aware that much of your time is needed for effectiveness, no direct gains as payments but in the long run there are connections and chances of exposure and on top of that when you mobilize the community to offer land for right of way and a road get constructed you are also one of the beneficiary of such development. Therefore, all it requires is commitment to serve for community transformation” he said.

Other executive members include: Ssabaganzi Emmanuel Ssekitoleko- President, Nansubuga Christine-Vice President, Naluyima Aisha –Secretary, Nsereko Lawrence –Traesuerer, Nalwanga Madina –Publicity, Mr. Bate Fredrick –Patron. Other Executive Committee members include Mr. Ssebunya Asuman, Hawa Hasan, Kayiira Abdullah, Deborah Bukenya –PWD (Female) and Kagiri Isa –PWD (male).

In the same session the MDF Coordinator Ms. Hanifah Nalukenge Kasule presented to the members the activities of the previous years, scores registered & challenges faced and the way forward in order to give a guide and direction.

Hon. Rose Nakafeero Ssuka the Executive Secretary for Education & Social Services praised the outgoing forum for the great work done especially in community mobilization for land acquisition for road widening.
" As you're aware we got funding from the World Bank and other funders through the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area - Urban Development Program for infrastructure development but unfortunately the funding did not have compensation component in it yet we're all aware that when it comes to infrastructural development the greater percentage of the expenses is on compensation to the land owners along the corridor but in our case the forum under the leadership of Ssabaganzi took the centre stage in mobilizing and convincing community members to freely offer us the required space for the construct!" She said adding on that unlike the politics were leaders are paid allowances MDF services are voluntary.
She said that both political and technical team at both Municipal and Division levels had tried their part in mobilizing the community for the very cause but unfortunately some people started making it political this leading to resistance especially from those of different political ideologies but when members of MDF coming from different categories of community members were brought on board, trained and equipped with necessary facts everything was made more easier.

Ssuka also appreciated the technical staff for always moving with the politicians & MDF members in the same direction speaking the same language to achieve the required scores. She urged not to expect material gains but only service for humanity for community well-being.
